Chrome screenshot extension

Capture a webpage screenshot, then make the point clear.

Web Markups captures the visible webpage or a selected area and saves a local PNG. Add arrows, lines, levels, channels, or text before capture so the result explains itself.

Available now from the official Chrome Web Store listing.

What is a Chrome screenshot extension? It is a browser add-on that captures content visible in Chrome without requiring a separate desktop editor. Web Markups combines that capture step with editable annotations placed over the live page.

Choose exactly what to capture

Visible webpage

Capture the current visible page without Chrome tabs or the address bar. This is a viewport capture, not a scrolling full-page screenshot.

Selected area

Draw, move, and resize a selection before capture when only one chart, component, or interface state matters.

Local PNG

Save directly through Chrome Downloads. Web Markups does not add a simulated browser frame or capture the desktop.

Annotate before you take the screenshot

Traditional screenshot workflows often require capture, export, open another editor, and then add a callout. Web Markups is designed to reverse that sequence: place editable annotations over the live webpage, confirm the message, and capture the finished explanation.

  • Use an arrow to identify a button, error, or layout problem.
  • Use a trendline or horizontal level to explain a chart movement.
  • Use a text note to add concise context.
  • Change color or reposition the annotation before capture.

Save a clean local PNG

The implemented workflow automatically saves the PNG to Chrome's configured Downloads folder and shows a confirmation with the exact filename. The output contains the captured webpage pixels without an artificial browser border, address bar, domain pill, or window icons. Free screenshots carry a visible webmarkups.com watermark near the center of the image; server-confirmed Pro accounts receive watermark-free capture. Web Markups does not retain a second raw copy in an editor cache.

Designed for clear visual communication

Screenshot capture is useful when a single browser state tells the story: a landing-page review, analytics result, UI regression, support instruction, or visual approval. For a sequence of steps, use the user-controlled browser recorder without microphone or system audio. For team-facing workflows, see the website feedback and visual bug report guides.

Privacy and current limitations

Local capture does not require an account and downloads directly through Chrome. Screenshots may contain private webpage content, so review every image before sharing it. Desktop/window capture, full-page scrolling capture, OCR, webcam capture, microphone audio, and automatic sharing are not current claims.

Post-release validation continues for saved pixels, cancellation, interrupted downloads, protected pages, large displays, zoom levels, and high-DPI behavior.

Chrome screenshot questions

Can Web Markups capture an entire scrolling page?

Not in the current implementation. “Page” means the visible webpage viewport. The site does not claim scrolling full-page capture.

Can a screenshot include annotations?

That is the core workflow. Annotations and the active Web Markups toolbar remain visible in the screenshot so the saved image matches what the user reviewed before capture.

Where is the PNG stored?

The capture is designed to download locally through Chrome's configured Downloads folder. Web Markups does not retain a separate raw editor copy.
